IDS at CoV10, 2 – 7 September in Naples (Italy)
IDS will display its full range of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems – RPAS to perform missions such as aerial mapping, volcano inspections, photogrammetry as well as search & rescue at the 10th edition of Cities on Volcanoes – CoV10, from 2nd to 7th September 2018 in Naples (Italy).
The title of COV 10 is “Millennia of Stratification between Human Life and Volcanoes: strategies for coexistence”.
The Conference focus will be on the inherent resilience of human societies living alongside volcanoes and the associated risk. As the millennia have past by the coexistence of humans and volcanoes has been perceived that the volcanic environments are fundamentally recognized as resources.
At the same time, building and strengthening this resilience in modern and complex societies exposed to volcanic risk, especially where volcanoes have been dormant for long periods of time, and understanding how to manage the risk is a great challenge.
The Cities and Volcanoes Commission of International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth’s Interior – IAVCEI aims to provide a linkage between the volcanology community and emergency managers, to serve as a conduit for exchange of ideas and experience between “volcano cities”, and to promote multi-disciplinary applied research, involving the collaboration of physical and social scientists and city officials.
