We are contributing to the next generation of European launchers
In response to Europe’s growing need for autonomy in space accessibility, the European Space Agency (ESA) is spearheading the development and promotion of cutting-edge technologies aimed at setting new standards in launch cost reduction, payload capacity, exploration, and human transportation.
Among the new technologies for the reusability of launchers, launcher stages recovering technologies for landing at sea and related ground facilities are one of the main pillars for landing solutions.
In the great spirit of technological innovation and the ambition to establish a new state of the art IDS Ingegneria dei Sistemi, in collaboration with Fincantieri NexTech, is leading an ESA-awarded project to design a new European maritime platform for the recovery of reusable launch vehicle stages.
The Fincantieri Group, a world leader in the marine industry, has risen to the challenge with its strong expertise and innovative vision by studying a solution for landing at sea on a seaborne drone platform.
The ability to build and customize ships, with the know-how developed over the years, is leading to the design of a vessel of major sea keeping performance and maneuverability, able to withstand the loads of a landing stage and ready to meet needs with great versatility, with potential use also for non-space applications as well.
Stay tuned to learn more about this groundbreaking project!
